Honeymoons in Tanzania and Zanzibar

Honeymoons in Tanzania and Zanzibar
By Ian Williamson

The ideal location for a honeymoon must be Tanzania, the game safari followed by an idyllic retreat to one of the islands on the Zanzibar archipelago. These richly spiced islands surrounded by the warm, crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean make Tanzania an ideal honeymoon destination.

Zanzibar offers many elegant lodges that provide private intimate accommodation necessary for the perfect honeymoon. I would say Tanzania is probably the easiest country in Africa in which to combine a quality safari with time on an island in the Indian Ocean.

Many couples get married between July and October and the Zanzibar Archipelago offers hot, dry weather with little or no humidity. Zanzibar offers a wide range of accommodation and prices and is very good value for money.

Some of the favorite lodges for honeymooners are Mnembe Island, Breezes, Ras Nungwi and of course the remote and luxurious Fundu Lagoon on Pemba Island. Prices vary from around US$2,000 per person up to US$6,000 per person depending on the amount of luxury you opt for on safari in Tanzania and relaxing on Zanzibar.

Bellow is a short description of some of the lodges named above.

Mnemba lies two kilometers north-east of the island of Zanzibar. A protection zone surrounds the island, conserving magnificent coral reefs where giant turtles, ghost crabs and tropical fish drift through the lagoons. Mnemba Island features banda cottages, bordered on three sides by tropical beach forest and overlooking the beach and coral reef.

Breezes Beach hotel is beautifully decorated in relaxed elegance with a wonderful mix of hand carved furniture, Zanzibar antiques and beautiful fabrics. This beautiful resort is located along a pristine, untouched beach stretching as far as the eye can see and is situated on the south east coast of the Island of Zanzibar. This hotel has a curtained restaurant for two set right on the edge of the Indian Ocean.

On the northernmost tip of Zanzibar Island, Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel overlooks a sparkling expanse of Indian Ocean, a cluster of whitewashed and palm thatched cottages set in tropical gardens. The lush gardens drop down onto unspoilt beaches which have the benefit of a wide coral reef.

Fundu is on Pemba Island, the sister island to Zanzibar lying across the Pemba Channel to the north. The hotel is situated on a remote and beautiful beach on the south western side of the island and is only accessible by boat. There are sixteen bungalows, consisting of spacious tents, set under thatch roofs on wooden decks and each with a view over the ocean. Each room is ensuite with fresh hot water shower, toilet and basin. The rooms are connected to the main buildings by sand walkways. Some rooms are situated along the beachfront with the remaining on an elevated position overlooking the ocean. Two of our fourteen accommodations are suites with their own private chill out decks and plunge pools.

Zanzibar also has places of interest to hire a motorcycle and tour the island can be a great adventure. A few places to visit are: the Historic town and port of Stone Town Tour, at Kizimkazi there is a chance to dive with the dolphins, no trip would be complete with out a Spice Tour. Jozani Forest is a great day out to see the rare Red Colobus monkey and follow the nature trail through this beautiful forest; it is an area of incredible natural beauty.

How to Create a Wedding and Honeymoon Gift Basket
By Bonnie Ray

Help the newly engaged couple with their wedding expenses by giving them a gift of small useful items used in a wedding, at the reception or on their honeymoon. Create a wedding and honeymoon gift basket. Below you will find examples of useful items you may wish to include.

* Set of Toasting Flutes
* Bottle of Champagne or Sparkling White Grape Juice
* Garter
* Cake Serving Set
* Guests Register Book
* Disposable Cameras
* Wedding Bubbles
* Photo Album
* Picture Frames
* Candles
* Bubble Bath
* Net Sponge Scrubber
* Body Lotion
* CD of Their Favorite Romantic Music
* Decorated Basket

In the basket you could include a set of monogrammed fluted toasting glasses along with a bottle of champagne or sparkling white grape juice for the couple that doesnt drink. These items could be used at their rehearsal dinner or reception for the toast. The toasting flutes could be decorated in their wedding flowers and colors.

The bride could wear the garter on her wedding day to be removed by the groom for the garter toss at the reception. The gentleman that catches it is said to have good luck.

A lovely cake knife and server set for cutting the wedding cake is a very useful item. You could also decorate them with small flowers and ribbons for the occasion. This item makes a cherished keepsake and can be used in the home after the wedding.

Include a guests register book for all the guests that will be attending the wedding to sign. The bride and groom can reminisce through it after returning from their honeymoon and remember all of their family, friends and associates that attended the ceremony.

Disposable cameras are great gifts to include for capturing all those precious memories at parties, rehearsal dinner, the wedding, and the reception. They can carry it on their honeymoon to capture all those unforgettable moments. By placing a disposable camera on each reception table, their guests can take pictures of each other or events as they play out during the reception party. After returning from the honeymoon they can get the pictures developed and enjoy events they may have otherwise missed. To protect and display all of those wedding photographs, include a photo album and picture frames.

A basket filled with wedding bubbles is another great gift idea. They could be passed out at the wedding reception for the guest to blow at the newlywed couple as they leave on their honeymoon.

Include the following items for the couple to pack in their honeymoon luggage. Candles, bubble bath, net sponge scrubber, body lotion and CD of their favorite romantic music for a romantic bath and body massage after a long day of wedding partying. Before leaving on the honeymoon have one of the attendants carefully pack the champagne flutes so while taking that long leisurely bath they can enjoy a glass of champagne and make a special toast to each other and their love before the first night of wedding bliss.

Place all of these wonderful small useful gifts in a lovely white thick willow basket that can be used at the reception to display wedding guests favors. Make the basket more special by fully lining it with satin fabric and surround the circumference with pretty lace. Add flowers, greenery and ribbons in the wedding colors to carry out their wedding theme. Once the items are placed in the basket wrap it in tulle and tie it off with a pretty ribbon bow that matches the wedding color theme. After the wedding it makes a lovely decoration for their home to display magazines, towels or other small items.

To cut down on cost, the wedding attendants could contribute a few dollars toward the gift basket and present it to them at one of the many pre wedding parties.

Go Exotic Honeymoons In Vietnam

Go Exotic Honeymoons In Vietnam
By Richard Rspad

Vietnam is a term that carries a certain connotation in American culture given the Vietnam War. Given this fact, you might be surprised to learn many honeymoon there.

Vietnam is a country of beauty where mountains, green rice paddies and blue rivers make up a beautiful and exotic local. This Indochinese country is a perfect destination for travelers that want to have a different sort of honeymoon trip from the typical Caribbean island getaways or cruises.

Vietnam is the most populous of the Southeast Asian countries with over 85 million people calling this country home. In the mid 19th century, France colonized Vietnam adding a touch of their culture to the already rich heritage of this country. During World War II, Japanese forces invaded Vietnam and France lost its hold on the country. The Vietnam War during the 1970's brought strife to the country as well as other nations around the world. Unbeknown to most Americans, the United States has resumed positive relations with Vietnam as of 1994. For adventurous couples, this has made Vietnam a hot honeymoon destination.

An example of the various Vietnam honeymoon options starts in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi. Here, tourists can see Ho Chi Minh's home and grave, as well as many pagodas, cultural sites and museums. Continuing on into the Tonkenese Alps, newlyweds get a glimpse of the area that was once a destination resort for French ambassadors and is now the home of some of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. Other highlights of a tour of Vietnam include stops at local markets, such as in Sa Pa, and the thousands of limestone islands located in Ha Long Bay. If you just want to lie around all day, this is the spot.

The highlight of your trip may be the time spent in Ho Chi Minh City, a large metropolis within the country. Here, you can take a look at the Jade Emperor Pagoda, the various cafs and shopping areas as well as some French colonial items, which include the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Old Saigon Post Office. You'll also see the Mekong Delta, which is Vietnam's largest rice producing area and delta region, where the famous Unicorn Island is located.

While on your trip to Vietnam, you will be sure to feel the romance and mystery of observing a different land and culture than you are used to. Tours of Vietnam are priced affordably at around $1500 per person for a 14 day tour with meals and stay included.

Top Ten Honeymooning Spots

Top Ten Honeymooning Spots
By Richard Rspad

When you are ready to go honeymooning, there are an overwhelming number of destination choices. To help you choose, here are the top 10 spots newlyweds choose.

Sometimes, choosing honeymooning destinations can be brutal. Many couples have different interests and ideas as to what constitutes a perfect vacation. It can be difficult to compromise if a couple enjoys vastly different climates or activities. One way to choose the best place is to take a look at where others traditionally go. That way, you can look at where many other couples have decided to take their first married trip, and see if one of these spots appeals to you.

According to surveyors at Modern Bride magazine, one place stands out above all others: Hawaii. Hawaii has long been a favorite of honeymooners, especially those couples coming from the United States, as there is much to see and do in this island paradise. No passport is required for those from the US (but one is required for many other island honeymoons), and the beautiful climate and native Polynesian culture, with traditions such as luaus and hula dancers, leis and fruity drinks served in coconuts makes this an island paradise worth visiting. While Hawaii is very popular, the resorts and accommodations are geared towards offering plenty of privacy and seclusion, perfect for newlyweds.

Destination number two is a bit more of a surprise. The second top spot is the country of Italy. Italy is not the exotic sunny island that many people picture for their trip, but it is definitely a romantic place. The canals of Venice, the historical sites of Rome and the romantic village charm of Florence make Italy a perfect honeymooning spot for many couples. Additionally, you can easily visit the rest of Europe. This can be a great idea for couples who want to do different things on their trip such as seeing historical sites and shopping the great cities of the European continent.

The remaining honeymooning destination spots are as follows:

3. Tahiti

4. Anguilla

5. Fiji

6. St. Lucia

7. Mexico

8. St. Bart's

9. Jamaica

10. France

No matter what you are looking for in a destination, whether you prefer relaxation to adventure, or seclusion to the bustle of cities, there is a place for you. A good place to start is with the locations listed above.

Honeymoon In Vegas (Movie Review)

Posted by suphachai | 6:52 AM | 0 comments »

Honeymoon In Vegas (Movie Review)
By Britt Gillette

One romantic comedy often overlooked by fans of cinema is Honeymoon In Vegas, a light-hearted, feel-good movie about two lovers overwhelmed by the temptations of Las Vegas. A relatively early film in the careers of both Nicholas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker, Honeymoon In Vegas should have been early indicator to audiences everywhere that these two would become Hollywood mainstays. Along with celebrated industry veteran James Caan (who plays a surprisingly similar role on the present TV show Las Vegas), the three combine to create an interesting, if not extremely hilarious, storyline which adds a new twist to the traditional conflict of the love triangle

Jack Singer (Nicholas Cage) is forever haunted by a deathbed promise he made to his mother, giving his word that he would never get married. But the promise threatens to end his relationship with long-time girlfriend and true love Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker). So Jack proposes and the couple decides to race off to Las Vegas and get married. However, their trip to Vegas is soon interrupted when Jack is set up in a poker game by professional gambler Tommy Korman (James Caan).

With a single hand of poker, Jack loses $65,000 to Korman who promises to forgive the debt in exchange for a single weekend with his fiance Betsy. Initially outraged at the setup, Jack sees the proposed solution as a way out of the debt, so he convinces Betsy to go along with the idea. But Jack soon becomes horribly jealous and changes his mind. When he goes to find Betsy, he's forced to fight against Korman and his minions who have arranged to keep Jack away permanently. Now, Jack must get to Betsy any way he can and tell her how much he loves her before Korman convinces her she's marrying the wrong man, and that the right man is no other than Korman himself

One of James Caan's best performances, the character of Tommy Korman comes off as a somewhat likeable guy even though he plays the role of antagonist to our hero. The best characters are those that are multi-dimensional, and the director creates a great environment which allows the various cast members to act out the emotions of their characters. Put together, these diverse characters interact in exciting and interesting ways, making Honeymoon In Vegas a fun and enjoyable film.

Featuring several Hollywood icons, Honeymoon In Vegas is a character-driven romantic comedy capable of holding its own with any film in its genre. Although it never experienced the widespread commercial success of some of its contemporaries, the film nevertheless maintains a high level of entertainment value. If you haven't seen Honeymoon In Vegas, then I highly recommend it. It's worth the time. Due to its exotic settings and a well-written screenplay, Honeymoon In Vegas is a definite must-see movie

Essential Tips For Cheap Honeymoons

Essential Tips For Cheap Honeymoons
By Peter Morgan

The time is right for you to get married, but between the wedding, the reception, and the bridal party gifts, you're not sure how you're going to afford the honeymoon. The post-wedding celebration can often be quite expensive, but you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great time. The cheap honeymoons can be just as memorable and enjoyable as an expensive one.

How can you have wonderful cheap honeymoons? Well, the easiest way to save money on this trip is to stay somewhere close to home. If you do this, you can save money on:

* Airfare

* Shuttle to and from the airport

* Parking fees if you park at the lot

* Passport application fees

Staying close to home on cheap honeymoons also means that you'll be much more likely to find a great deal. You have a better chance of knowing what prices are reasonable in your area and what so-called deals are little more than marketing. Another inexpensive honeymoons idea is to go on a road trip instead of flying. If you are the outdoorsy type, camping or even renting a cabin can be less expensive than many other types of honeymoon options.

Consider taking the train for the cheap honeymoons . This romantic mode of travel is also very comfortable and quite affordable. It gives the whole trip a kind of glamour that simply is not available with flying. You can take a sleeper train and save the money you would have spent on a night in a hotel. That means you could splurge and get a nicer room the next night.

Travel in the off-season for the cheap honeymoons . If you are getting married in February, don't honeymoon in Hawaii. Plan for a cozy week in a snug bed and breakfast rather than a beach trip to Hawaii. However, if you are getting married in September, check the rates for Hawaii. That's actually the off-season there, and you might find a good deal.

Keep your eyes open for spectacular package deals. They do still exist and can be a great way to the cheap honeymoons . Sometimes you can save big on a cruise or with an all-inclusive package. Get an interior cabin for your cruise. They cost a lot less, and have many of the same amenities.

An all-inclusive resort may be able to bundle your wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon into one fee, which could be a lot lower than what you would pay separately. A wonderful, economical honeymoon can be yours, with just a little legwork.

The Best is Yet to Be After You Throw the Bouquet: Your Honeymoon
By Joy Cagil

Forty or more years ago, honeymoon spots were perfectly clear in people's minds, mostly as the Niagara Falls, Hawaii, or a neighborhood hotel for a few days stay. Even the stinkiest hotels had honeymoon suites, then. Only some couples belonging to the jet set had their honeymoons in Monaco or in some such place in Europe. In addition, it used to be that the groom chose the honeymoon site and surprised the bride.

With the honeymoon the new husband tacked on the lady, the bride of the olden days acted happy and delighted, but the trick word is acted here, and no one wants to start a marriage with an act. Being part of a couple deserves sincerity, and the honeymoon should be one both people will enjoy; therefore, the honeymoon would be more successful if the future bride and groom planned this important step into their marriage together.

A honeymoon is a serious event. It should be arranged with care and should be planned in advance.

As times have changed, so have the honeymoons. Nowadays, any one place in the entire world can be a honeymoon destination, and why not? If a couple have similar tastes and they both enjoy wildlife, why shouldn't they have their honeymoon with a rhinoceros peeking into their hut in Africa?

Joking aside, the decision for a honeymoon spot should start about half a year before the wedding or even earlier. The couple should decide together on the location of their honeymoon: a ski resort, a jungle, a local spot, a resort hotel, a city or town overseas, a beach, a mountaintop, or a cabin on a cruise ship.

The budget is also important, because a wedding is difficult on any family's budget as it is. The traditional way is: if the bride or the bride's parents are financing the wedding, the groom or the groom's parents finance the honeymoon. If both families are pitching in for both events, then the financial situation of the families should be the first consideration.

If a couple can come up with a budget they can work with, they should first write down the possible expenses as a list: transportation expenses including airplane or cruise tickets, car rentals, taxi rides, and sightseeing trips; lodging expenses including meals, tips, taxes, and extras; and incidentals. Incidentals depend where the couple is heading to. For example, if they are going to be trekking in the jungle, they will need boots, jungle wear, insect repellents, first aid kits, binoculars, etc.

Tour packages and all-inclusive honeymoon packages can be money and time savers if they contain everything the couple wants. If the couple is reserving a honeymoon package, they have to make sure the weather will fit their plans in the place they will go. For example, reserving a Caribbean cruise during the hurricane season could have dire results. Some promotional offers, too, may contain off-season bargains that may not fit with the couple's expectations, and the trip may not be refundable either. Key points like weather, refundability, and exchange of location possibilities should be cleared out, in writing, with the travel agent before any other arrangements are made.

A good travel agent should advise the couple in everything they need to do, like inoculations and documents for an out of the country location, and warn them of unsafe localities. Also, while perusing the colorful travel pamphlets, the couple should remember that those inviting photos are of the best-looking parts of their destination and the better rooms of the hotels.

Obtaining maps, brochures, and other details from the travel agent and the tourism bureaus is a good idea. Once everything is planned and all the information is put together in one easy-to-reach folder, double checking the reservations, packing lists, identifications and other necessities should be done again one week before the trip. Having enough knowledge and some kind of a plan will save the couple time and money and will prevent unnecessary hassles.

While a wedding is the time for a couple to take their vows, their honeymoon marks the beginning of their married life. More than where they go and what they do, a positive attitude and enjoying time together should be the goal.

May all honeymoons last a lifetime.

Honeymoon Registry! Or Why Not Just Ask for the Money?
By Vlady Peters

Lets face it, your friends know that you and your partner are an established couple and you need another hot water jug like you need a hole in the head. Why bother with a Bridal Registry or, indeed with a Honeymoon Registry, when they are fully aware that what you really need at this time is hard, cold cash. And why not be up front with it and say so.

Its an undeniable fact that, apart from a few people who really hate shopping, guests like the idea of giving a couple something concrete; and enjoy having their thoughtfulness and generosity acknowledged. And money, valuable as it is, simply doesnt cut it. It has taken decades to acclimatize guests to the idea of a Bridal Registry. It may take couple more decades to make plain dollars as romantic as a traditional gift which a guest can admire before handing it over to the couple concerned.

Honeymoon Registry is a sort of transitory step where a guest parts with money, but is encouraged to feel that he or she is providing the bride and groom with a gift. The gift being the Honeymoon itself.

How does it work? The Honeymoon Registry is made into a concrete gift list by making the Honeymoon a categorized entity. Instead of the Honeymoon, a holiday for the bride and groom, its an airplane ticket, its two nights at the hotel, its a massage, its a candle lit supper, its a night out at the opera. In short, the Honeymoon becomes an event that has been cut up into small segments and guests can decide for which segment they are prepared to pay.

As in the case of a Bridal Registry, all courtesies are observed. Each guest receives an acknowledgement and thanks for the gift theyve given. This might be automatically generated by the provider concerned. Other providers might choose to inform the couple as the gifts are purchased and it is the couple who send the thank you note.

By Chris Ryerson

Honeymoons are not only for newly married couples. In fact, even couples married for many years now can have marriage renewals and be followed by a honeymoon. You may think that it's quite funny but it's not. Married life needs some added spice every now and then to keep the relationship healthy and continuously growing.

And that is why there is a need to renew your vows after many years of living together. It's also a good way to show other people how much you love each other, and that your partnership can stand the tests of time. It doesnt matter if you have to spend a certain amount of money for your marriage renewal, besides this is a very rare occasion that calls for a celebration.

There's a book written by Paulette Cooper that's all about romantic resorts that's ideal for destination weddings, honeymoons, and marriage renewals. If you have no idea on how to plan or where to go on your marriage renewal honeymoon, this book can truly help you. It features over 135 cruise ships and elegant hotels found in Mexico, the Caribbean, US, and Hawaii.

You can find great deals for your marriage renewal using this book. There are certain resorts featured in the book that actually offers free renewal marriage vows if you choose to stay there. In fact, according to many surveys, a lot of couples always remember the place where they spent their honeymoon even after so many years has past.

Planning Your Honeymoon Through the Internet
By Alma Lazarevich

When planning a trip there is no doubt about the great help that we can get through the internet, however, we have to be aware that this might not always be the right thing to do for certain kinds of trips.

It is not a secret that internet has replaced travel agents. A lot of people just want to get to their destination the best possible way for the cheapest price available. Nevertheless sometimes we need much more information than the alternatives the computers can provide us with, especially if we are planning a honeymoon, anniversary or a special vacation trip.

We need to know which airlines offer not only the best fares, but which are the most punctual, which have the best record regarding baggage handling, which have the most comfortable seats and the best service on board, etc.

And if we talk about hotels and resort destinations, we want to make sure that we talk to a person that has a lot of experience, who can really give us valuable advice about the location of the hotels or when choosing a beach destination, which hotel has the best beach, when is the rainy season or even worst hurricane season.

A lot of people assume that the weather will be good during summer vacation to a beach resort. On the contrary, in many places the rainy season starts by the end of May and it is over around October. Daily life is still enjoyable during the rainy season as rain falls for only a few minutes at a time and then the sun comes out. The possibility of a hurricane is another story, and that is why it is so important to be advised by the right person.

Do your planning in advance and keep in mind that a honeymoon takes place once in everyone's life. Do it the right way.

The Honeymoon Registry: When Having Another Toaster Oven Just Won't Do
By Janice Willingham

Because of the high costs involved in planning and having a wedding and not to mention a honeymoon, many couples are asking how can we ask for money to go towards our honeymoon without showing a total disregard for wedding etiquette? Additionally, many couples are already living together prior to getting married. For some, it may be a second marriage. As a result, the need for the usual household items as wedding gifts is not a need. The natural solution to the wedding gift giving dilemma is the popular and growing trend toward honeymoon registries.

The traditional way of gift giving has been to rely on the bridal registry. The honeymoon registry communicates to guests and well wishers where the couple would like to go on their honeymoon, the activities and extra amenities they would enjoy that would make their dream honeymoon a reality.

A honeymoon registry is much like a wedding registry. When you join a honeymoon registry, your chosen destination package is broken down into affordable pieces and listed just like a normal gift registry. What's so great and unique about the honeymoon registry is that it enables your wedding guests to purchase portions of your honeymoon. Yes, your guests can contribute toward your honeymoon, but in some cases giving a particular portion of the honeymoon--dinner at a nice restaurant, or a carriage ride, for example--is more meaningful.

There are three basic kinds of honeymoon registries:

*Registries that require you to book your travel through the travel agency offering the registry.

*Registries that allow you to book your travel either through the sponsoring travel agency (or other affiliated travel agencies), through the travel agency of your choice, or on your own. Usually these registries charge an extra fee or higher service charge if you choose not to book travel through the registry's parent travel agency.

*Registries that are not affiliated with any travel agencies, requiring you to make travel arrangements on your own or through a travel agency of your choice.

If a honeymoon registry sounds like the perfect solution for you, here is a quick guide to choosing, creating, and using one. Different registries offer various mixes of features and costs. Think about what is most important to you. Take a virtual tour of several different registries. Start by looking at a few examples of honeymoon registries. Look for professionalism. Does the site provide a thorough explanation of its services, including all fees and service charges? Does it explain who you can contact or what you can do if you run into problems? If the honeymoon registry is run by a travel agency, does the FAQ explain the company's policy for cancelled or delayed travel?

Consider contacting couples who have used the registry. You can find couples by looking up old honeymoon registries and doing a web search for their e-mail addresses. Or look for e-mail addresses associated with wedding home pages hosted by the registry service. Send a friendly e-mail explaining your situation and ask for advice; most couples will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Talk to someone from the registry service, either by phone or e-mail. If the registry service falls short on customer service when you're signing up, don't expect better service if a problem arises.

To create your honeymoon, you must first submit basic personal information such as your names, the date of the wedding, contact information, and so on. Then you create your registry, which is an itemized list of all your honeymoon expenses. Some registries charge a setup fee, which is usually between $100-$150; others charge nothing to the wedding couple, but charge wedding guests a service fee when they buy part of the honeymoon. Most honeymoon registry websites allow you to create your registry right away over the web. Other sites put you in touch with a representative who will assist you in creating your registry.

What can you list on your registry? If you can buy it, you can list it. Typical registries list transportation, lodging, activities, special amenities, and meals. Expensive items are usually broken down so guests can choose to pay only a portion of the item. For example, a honeymoon registry might list ten gifts of $100 each toward your $1,000 airfare expense.

Some honeymoon registries allow you to personalize your registry with a message to your guests and descriptions of the different parts of your honeymoon, perhaps even allowing you to upload pictures.

Once your registry is set up, you need to let your wedding guests know that it exists. Many registries will provide you with printed cards announcing the registry and its web address; you can either mail them with the wedding invitation or separately. Some registries will email your wedding guests if you provide their email addresses.

The more tactful approach is to let your guests know about your registry indirectly. Let your parents, close friends, or wedding party members know that you have a honeymoon registry; they can pass the word along to other guests and well wishers. You can also create a wedding web page with up-to-date information for guests, and include a link to your registry on that page and list the address of your wedding web page in your invitation without directly bringing up the issue of gifts.

Wedding guests can look up your registry by typing in your last name into a search box on the registry website. After reading what you want, they click on the item they want to purchase and pay for the items on the website. Most registries also allow guests to purchase items by phone.

The gift-giver usually receives a certificate that is either sent to the wedding couple or to the purchaser to deliver personally the couple. Some registries charge a fee to mail this certificate. Other registries notify the couple of the gift by e-mail. On any registry, you can track how many gifts you have received simply by logging into the registry.

It's important to note that most registries require guests to pay a service charge for the privilege of contributing to your honeymoon. The service charge is a percentage of the cost of the gift ranging from 3.5% to 15%. So if a guest wants to pay $100 toward your airfare and the honeymoon registry website imposes a 10% service charge, the guest will end up spending $110.

The wedding couple is ultimately responsible for paying for their honeymoon expenses which means any portion of the honeymoon that needs to be paid prior to the wedding will be at the wedding couple's expense. Some or all of those expenses could be purchased by your guests however; some of the honeymoon expenses are not completely covered by the registry. It's wise not to plan an extravagant honeymoon that you cannot pay for yourself.

Whatever money wedding guests contribute toward the honeymoon is placed in a holding account. The registry sends the couple a check (or electronically deposits the funds into their account) on a predetermined date, usually a week before the wedding. Even though the wedding guests paid for certain parts of the honeymoon, the couple can use the money for anything they want.

Explore folk art at the Salvation Mountain or go have your temperatures checked by the Baker Thermometer, the worlds largest thermometer. Of course, dont; ever forget to visit Hollywood and get a chance to get up close and personal with the Hollywood celebrities. Who knows the two of you may star in one of the movies being filmed there?

For those whod like to go on the wilder side, go north with an Alaskan honeymoon. Go bear-sighting at the Anan Wildlife Observatory and at Pack Creek. Dont definitely miss the Alaskan Native Heritage Center and the Anchorage Museum of History and Art for a glimpse of Alaskas culture and local history. Climb Mt. The End of the Google Honeymoon?

The End of the Google Honeymoon?
By Paul Fisher

He sounded like the typical arch rival, but when Bill Gates announced to the world that the honeymoon with Google will only last a couple more years, did he have a point?

The world certainly has gone Google-Ga-Ga, with search, Gmail, Adwords, Analytics, Adsense and Toolbar causing a riotous storm. I have read countless news items and blogs proclaiming the march of Google onto the desktop as a curtain call for Microsoft. Google can now search within the local machine, will eventually power internet boxes as a replacement to Windows, and will eventually take control of the world!

Now, Im certainly not Google bashing, but this kind of talk strikes me as crazy. Google have a powerful and technologically advanced search application. They have constructed beautiful search architecture and packaged it into a winning business model. The launch of Adwords and Adsense was pure genius in a cost-per-click market that was staid and unconvincing, but I for one have serious doubts about the immediate impact of Google on Microsofts monopoly.

I use Adwords, Analytics and Adsense on a daily basis. All my email is combined into a Gmail account, which I read through Google Desktop Toolbar. Google is my search engine of choice, and all in all Im happy with my Google package.

But there are gripes, and theyre growing.

The Google interface is plain. Of course it is I hear you cry why would you want to clutter up such great technology with a cheap veneer? Well, for us technical minded folk maybe, but I know plenty of non-technical people (and, lets face it, there are billions of them) that find this very plain approach to be extremely counter-intuitive. Take Gmail for instance. Apart from a powerful search function, Gmail scores pretty low on the usability stakes. Most of the non-techie people I come into contact with (Im talking solicitors, teachers, middle managers fairly intelligent people) have ditched Gmail for the familiarity and usability of Hotmail. In Hotmail Microsoft supply an integrated and highly polished product that takes a novice by the hand and walks them up the garden path of email. It might not have 2 gigabytes of storage and a whacking great search function attached, but a couple of folders and a delete button seem to work pretty well for most folk. As I said, I use Gmail daily, but I can appreciate what these people are telling me. Of course we are talking about a beta product so lets not dwell on this one

Google accounts dont talk to each other. Often I will need to log into my Adwords, Adsense and Analytics account within minutes of each other and be required to log in separately for each one. This drives me mad! In Passport, Microsoft has streamlined the login process from within the desktop, opening up a whole suite of web based services in an extremely usable manner. Sometimes it feels like Google is trying to keep me out! Id love to see one centralized login from which all Google accounts can be accessed.

My point here is that people demand a user friendly, polished experience. Google are currently making it difficult for non-technical minded people to access the products on offer. A case in point can be seen in their help files. Just a couple of clicks into the Google Analytic help files will throw up numerous 404 error pages. Surely with such a powerful search facility a 404 should be unheard of. Why, instead of a 404 page does the king of search not provide me with a list of possible places or sites that might be able to help? To organize the worlds information unless it is unavailable so youll have to make do with a 404 error screen, sorry!

Google has grown very fast, and in some respects I feel that the company has been surprised by its own success. The exponential growth of Adwords has generated so much revenue that Google is just throwing money in various directions, building Yahoo 2.0 in the process. Many of Googles services are admirable. Google Search and Google Books have and will change the way that humans store and retrieve information. But Google is not a rival to Microsoft. In fact, given a couple of years, it could be Google that is threatened. Google has a killer model in the Search-Adwords-Adsense triangle. They dont need any other services to survive in a financial sense, so perhaps we should just be grateful they are providing some of these services for free. But I for one hope that Google take time to consolidate and improve the usability of their products before they start chasing yet loftier aspirations. Google is powerful, but it is failing engage those who dont take to technology as readily as others. Sure, you can organise the worlds information but let everyone get at it when you have.

I dont want the honeymoon with Google to end, but I sense that its about to. Lets just hope they put in the work required to make a marriage work!

Plan a Honeymoon in a Private Villa

Plan a Honeymoon in a Private Villa
By Natalie Aranda

When celebrities get married and go on a honeymoon, they most often stay in private villas. You may think this is something that only the fabulously wealth can afford, but that is simply not the case.

Spending your honeymoon in a private villa can be more affordable than you think. Like any other accommodations, there is quite a range of prices depending on the size and amenities of the location.

Planning a honeymoon in a private villa is often not difficult. This is because most villas offer some sort of package deal where you can get food service, as well as tour guides to take you around the area. Tuscany villas are some of the most beautiful in the world, as they combine beautiful historical architecture with all of the modern amenities.

In fact, picking what amenities are important to you is pretty much the hardest decision you will need to make when planning your villa honeymoon. You will be pleasantly surprised at how many amenities are available to you when you stay in a private villa. Villas in Tuscany often feature private pools, historical furnishings, and beautiful views. If you enjoy the outdoors, youll find villas that are located near the water, skiing or golf courses. Of course, the activities will vary depending on where you stay, as Tuscany villa rentals might offer things that villas in another area may not.

You will want to decide whether you want maid service and whether you plan to utilize a chef to prepare your meals. Some villas come with kitchens that you can use, while others might just have a fridge or microwave. If you require any accommodations such as handicap access, make sure you call ahead or check with your travel agency to make sure your needs are met. Some villas allow you to bring your pets while others do not. If you are a smoker, youll want to check on the smoking policy of the villa as well. Do you need to get online while you are away? Check into what internet access is available.

Once you have an idea of the activities you want to do and the amenities you need, you can start looking at pictures of various villas. Villas vary greatly both in size and in the number of people they will accommodate. For this reason, they are good for private honeymoons as well as housing large families. If you have a destination wedding, you might consider renting a villa for your guests and then a separate one for you and your spouse. Either way, staying in a villa can offer you unmatched privacy and exquisite accommodations in a beautiful setting. It will help provide the perfect start to your new life together.

We're on our Honeymoon but not Alone

We're on our Honeymoon - but not Alone
By Vlady Peters

When Zsa Zsa Gabor she of the I have never hated a man enough to give his diamonds back fame was planning her ninth honeymoon, she did have some problems.

Darling, he would say, how about Hotel La Fonda, at Santa Fe? It is so romantic, historical and utterly charming.'

But, darleenk, she would reply, Im sure I was there with husband number one, or number two, or anyway, darleenk, with either one or the other.

What about a trip on Venice Simplon Orient Express, then? Its unbelievably luxurious.

Everyone does that Express theenk, darleenk.

You mean, youve done it, darling.

I told you everyone does it.

Though only much married couples would truly appreciate this dilemma, it is to their credit that they are getting a handle on it.

Time was when a divorce was a kiss of death to any civilized communication ever after between the two partners. They would refuse to attend the same party, or the same wedding, or the same anything. If by some accident they saw each other walking down the same street, they would either cross to the other side, or spit in each others eye.

That was fine when people were just discovering divorce. Now, with couples appearing at court hearings as frequently as at their favourite restaurants, holding grudges is just too much of a chore.

Considering that some marriages last six hours, and some couple of days, it probably gets difficult to distinguish between the various spouses anyway.

To their credit, couples are becoming quite reconciled to their situations. After all, they may have had children from that marriage, or inherited a couple from another marriage, so animosity for the rest of your life is simply not an option.

The last wedding I attended, not only was the ex wife and her children seated prominently in the front row, apparently when it came to the honeymoon itself, it comprised husband and wife, his ex wife, and their four children. After all, they reasoned, the kids would never get another such opportunity to see the Great Pyramid of Giza, and they were just at that age when theyd really appreciate the trip.

Times they certainly are a changing.

Preparing for the Honeymoon Trip

Preparing for the Honeymoon Trip
By Low Jeremy

Preparing for the wedding alone is already a headache. But it does not mean that you disregard the preparation for your honeymoon trip. Since wedding does not end after the exchange of vows, preparing for the honeymoon trip is equally important with preparing the wedding. And since this trip is the best time for you to spend your first days together as husband and wife, it should be taken into great account.

To make your honeymoon preparation less worrisome, here are some tips you can follow:

Plan ahead of time

Preparation should begin early. If you want to go to a honeymoon trip after the wedding celebration, then you should have already prepared for it long before the wedding day. Meanwhile if you will go to a honeymoon trip weeks after your wedding day, it is not an excuse to plan late. Preparing for the wedding day is also not an excuse to plan after the wedding. Everything should be prepared. Make sure you have already determined or have booked and made reservation on the location of your trip.

Create a checklist of everything

If the schedule is hectic and there is so much to do, you surely would forget some important things. Do avoid this from happening; create a checklist of everything you need to prepare. This does not only go with the honeymoon trip; it should also apply to the whole wedding preparation itself.

Finalize your travel documents

Make sure that your travel documents are all set before your honeymoon trip. Doing this early would save you a lot of trouble when the day closes near. If you are traveling outside the country, if is advisable to complete all your travel documents and keep them in a safe place.

Confirm your booking and reservation

Booking your flight and accommodation is not enough. You should confirm them days before you go. Making sure that everything is set and prepared once you arrive should be your primary concern.

Relax

After you’re stressful wedding preparation, you surely would not want to add pressure on your head. Keep in mind that one reason why you are going for a honeymoon trip is to relax, so you should relax. There is no reason why you should make the preparation for your honeymoon trip troublesome. Wedding preparation is stressful enough. You should not add some more.

Honeymoon Heaven

Honeymoon Heaven
By Emily Tanner

So many couples are finding the cost of their wedding so extortionate that they are having to make cutbacks in vital areas and its usually the honeymoon that suffers.

Every last penny is spent on lavish venues, hand-tied bouquets, opulent dress fabrics, extravagant menus, state of the art discos, novel favours and award-winning photographers. But, when it comes to splashing out on the holiday of a lifetime - your first as man and wife packed with lots of guilt free indulgences - why do you feel the need to compromise?! It seems as though wedding guests are treated like royalty leaving the happy couple to start their married life as paupers. Theres plenty of time for being penniless later - like when youve got 6 kids to feed and a hefty mortgage!

The honeymoon is such a vital part of a wedding celebration and the perfect end to all the excitement and build up of the big day. But, its also the start of something special. Its the beginning of your marriage and therefore should be marked with a wonderful holiday. Saving money by not having a proper honeymoon will always be regretted. Make cutbacks everywhere else - give your guests chicken rather than caviar and they probably wont even notice - but dont scrimp on the holiday!Pack your groom off to the nearest travel agents and make sure you both get the honeymoon you deserve. You can then buy your Just Married Rhinestone Bikini and relish every moment of twinkling by the sea!

Before You Honeymoon In Costa Rica

Posted by suphachai | 4:00 AM | 0 comments »

Before You Honeymoon In Costa Rica
By Kathleen Terrana

There are many online companies that offer romantic honeymoon getaways on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Costa Rica. Having just returned from Costa Rica myself, I would like to offer some suggestions that you probably will not find online or in a guidebook.

When we planned our trip, we assumed that most people in Costa Rica would understand English fairly well. At several hotels, the front desk clerks spoke practically no English. The same goes for bus drivers. The staff at the car rental agency spoke the best English. They were able to give us needed recommendation for food and site seeing. I highly recommend translating some key Spanish phrases before your trip, such as Where is the bank, bathroom, hotel?

The Pan American Highway runs through Costa Rica and is a reliable, well-paved road. However, many side roads in Costa Rica are very bad and full of deep potholes. I recommend that when you rent a car, take out the full coverage (usually an additional $20 per day on top of the regular fee). When you take the side roads, you need to allow more time to reach your destination. In some cases you may be only going 25 miles per hour.

Colones are the national currency and are very easy to translate into American dollars. If an item says 5,000 colones, just drop the 3 zeros and multiply the other number by 2. In other words, 5,000 colones is equal to 10 American dollars. If you need to convert other currency into colones, you can do that online at www.xe.com/ucc/ (Universal Currency Converter).

The rainy season in Costa Rica runs from May through December. Hotels are cheaper and there are fewer people on the roads and in the restaurants. My husband and I traveled in September, and experienced rain on only a few days of our trip. It would rain heavily for about one hour and then stop completely. We would spend the time indoors having a lovely Costa Rican lunch, and by the time we finished the rain was gone.

Bring a good camera and lots of film. Because of the rain, you will see some of the most beautiful exotic plants and flowers. The volcanoes are breathtaking and you can even hear the rumbling. The waterfalls are located off of the side roads, so drive slowly and allow more time. Even in the cities, you will want to photograph the ornate wrought iron that covers all the windows and patios in Costa Rica. After your honeymoon, you will want to have some of these amazing pictures enlarged to put in your new home.

Last Minute Honeymoon Cruise Options

Last Minute Honeymoon Cruise Options
By Kenneth Koch

Cruises booked at the last minute may be stressful to plan, but are still an enjoyable vacation option. If you are planning to elope or just enjoy being spontaneous, a last minute cruise may be just the thing for you.

Last Minute Cruise Deals Finding the Bargains
You must be flexible if you are on the lookout for last minute cruises. If you are looking for a specific itinerary or departure date, then a last minute cruise may not be right for you. On the other hand, if you are fine with not knowing where you will be sailing up to nearly the last minute, then let the search for last minute cruises begin!

Travel agents are the best resource for finding last minute cruise package deals. An agent specializing in cruises will be able to inform you of last minute discounts, offers, and cruise availability. By visiting the cruise lines website, you can learn about exclusive special deals and last minute cruise offers. If you need to know about departure dates, itineraries, and departure points as early as possible, it is best to check back with the sites frequently in order to make arrangements as soon as the last minute cruises become available.

Keep in mind that your cabin selection will be limited when booking a last minute cruise. In addition, you will probably have less than a month to prepare for your cruise. If you are flexible, however, you will be able to have a great time on your cruise, even if you are not staying in a luxury cabin.

Benefits and Pitfalls of Last Minute Cruise Packages
Despite the monetary savings of last minute cruises, there are a number of additional benefits to this type of honeymoon cruise. First of all, it is fun, spontaneous and wild. If you are eloping, this fits in perfectly with the experience. In addition, you might embark on a journey to a location you would never have thought of visiting if not for the last minute cruise discount. This can result in an eye-opening experience as you visit countries or islands you never dreamed of seeing.

Of course, if you are someone that needs to have your honeymoon cruise well planned out in advance, a last minute cruise is probably not right for you. You most likely will not have the time to explore the shore excursion options available with the cruise, let alone to book them ahead of time. You also might get stuck in a small and cramped cabin that includes bunk beds, which is not particularly romantic for a honeymoon cruise. You also will probably be unable to add special packages, such as honeymoon cruise packages, to a last minute cruise deal.

If you have no problem with making last minute honeymoon cruise arrangements of it the thought even excites you a little than a last minute cruise deal is a good choice for you!

B and B Honeymoons - Top 10 Myths Put to Bed
By Allison DeCongelio

The number of couples choosing bed & breakfasts for their honeymoon is on the rise. Perhaps its the high cost of gas and airline tickets forcing couples to consider celebrating their love closer to home or maybe its simply that the word is out that B&Bs are travels best kept secret. For those who never considered or who dont understand the intimate personalization of creating honeymoon memories at a bed & breakfast, BnBFinder.com, a leading online bed & breakfast directory, puts to rest 10 common myths about honeymoon romance at B&Bs.

Myth #1: B&Bs Are Cheap And Second-Rate
Fact: While there are many values offered by bed and breakfasts that can make them an economical alternative to other accommodations, B&B guests find upscale amenities such as luxury linens, fresh flowers, fine china and gourmet candlelit breakfasts amenities and special touches not found even at higher priced hotels.

Myth #2: Breakfast Is Family Style With Other Guests
Fact: Many bed and breakfasts have restaurant style seating so you and your sweetheart can have a romantic dining experience at a table of your own or breakfast in bed, usually without the expense of room service! At the Deerhill Inn (West Dover, VT), the Wine, Dine & Romance Package includes fresh flowers, champagne and chocolates waiting in your room upon your arrival, dinner for two and a full country breakfast served in bed the next morning.

Myth #3: Shared Bathrooms
Fact: A long believed myth about bed and breakfasts is that guests must share common bathrooms. Its time to uncover the truth! According to the Professional Association of Innkeepers International, 95% of inns include a private bath and many now offer private in-room Jacuzzis for two.

Myth #4: Bed And Breakfasts Are Only For Older Couples
Fact: In a recent poll, innkeepers reported the average age of honeymooners is between twenty and thirty. Inns across the country are welcoming honeymooners from recent high school graduates to great grandparents, so there is something for everyone!

Myth #5: Limited Privacy
Fact: Many bed and breakfasts maintain a quiet, romantic, mature atmosphere for their adult guests and often have policies prohibiting children. Innkeepers have also taken into account thin walls and squeaky staircases by soundproofing, remodeling and updating older homes.

Myth #6: Fattening, Unhealthy Breakfasts
Fact: Since breakfast is a highlight of most B&B stays, mention any special dietary preferences when booking an inn. Many inns are adjusting their portion sizes and now serve healthy dishes such as fruit, oatmeal, and low-fat or low-carb items. Enjoy the fact that you are eating a delicious breakfast that the chefs pride themselves in (innkeepers are usually happy to share their signature recipes with you to make at home).

Myth #7: B&Bs Are Just A Room And Boring
Fact: On the contrary, many bed and breakfast inns provide activities for their guests, free of charge, or have deals with local vendors to offer guests discounted rates. Because of their size, bed and breakfasts are able to offer individualized activities and personal service. Depending on the time of year you plan to visit, there will be an array of things to do. Biking, skiing, golf, tennis and boating are just some activities that can be personally arranged by the inn.

Myth #8: Only Breakfast Is Served At A B&B
Fact: Dont let the name fool you! Even though they are called bed and breakfasts many inns offer lunch and dinner la carte. For a romantic twist, ask the innkeeper to pack a picnic lunch for you to take on your day trip. The Inn at Thorn Hill (Jackson, NH) includes a picnic lunch with their Ultimate Relaxation Package (the package also includes spa treatments, breakfast in bed and more!)

Myth #9: Spa Services Are Not Available At Small Inns
Fact: Bed and breakfasts offer a multitude of additional services. For the ultimate honeymoon experience, inquire about spa services offered at many B&Bs. Some inns offer special pricing packages at local salons and others offer spa treatments onsite. The Barley Sheaf Farm Estate & Spa (Holicong, PA) offers a unique spa experience. The private in-suite treatment rooms offer guests the opportunity to experience the exceptional natural herbal spa treatments in the privacy of their own suite.

Myth #10: B&Bs Dont Offer Discount Pricing
Fact: Many bed and breakfasts offer special honeymoon packages. Celebrate your special occasion at the Brierley Hill Inn (Lexington, VA), where you can stay in one of their luxurious suites, each with whirlpool tub and fireplace. Their honeymoon package includes a chilled bottle of champagne (or sparkling cider), a delicious wine and cheese basket, as well as fresh flowers in your suite. Your breakfasts will be candle-lit, at anytime you choose with full silver service by the fireplace in the dining room.

From chocolate and roses to spa treatments, inns put together packages to entice every taste and personality. If its gourmet food and wine, couples massage, and your own private suite in a stunning location that most appeals, there is a Bed and Breakfast inn that can fulfill your every desire. You and your sweetheart can decide together whether you want to get out for a horse drawn carriage or sleigh ride or just soak in a private in-room Jacuzzi tub then snuggle under the covers with milk and freshly baked cookies. You may want to frolic in the colorful leaves around in a historic Northeastern manor house in the fall, burrow in a cozy, secluded mountain inn in winter, go baroque in a frilly Victorian to celebrate spring, or venture to a beachside or waterfront inn for fun in the summer sun. Depending on your budget and time available, you may be delighted to discover a very special inn close to home offering you an affordable, but no less wonderful honeymoon escape.

B&Bs, often considered Travels Best Kept Secret, can be found in directories such as BnBFinder.com. Find your perfect honeymoon getaway using the BnBFinder Bed & Breakfast Advance Search, which features 26 search options. Winter Honeymoon Ideas

Winter Honeymoon Ideas
By Richard Rspad

Given the heat of summer, more and more people are turning to winter weddings. This makes winter honeymoons a subject you need to give some consideration to when doing your planning.

When you picture your honeymoon, you might think of tropical islands and ocean breezes. How about just a beachside resort or some other warm weather retreat? While these are all good ideas, not everyone one gets married in the summer or is interested in lounging on the sand. So, what is a couple to do who is getting hitched in December and would rather have adventure than pure relaxation? Here are some ideas that are sure to please your more adventurous side.

One idea that is the ski resort honeymoon. Whether you love to ski or just want to learn how, these resorts can be a perfect mix of romance and outdoor activity. One such resort is the Mont Tremblant Ski Resort in Quebec, Canada. This resort was voted one of the best ski bargains in North America, but it definitely doesn't have a bargain feel. Mont Tremblant is a ski resort town with quaint shops and many restaurants lining the small streets of downtown. If you want to stay in the most romantic and luxurious spot in town, the Fairmont Tremblant is a five star hotel with a spa, fantastic cuisine and bars and entertainment for your nighttime pleasure.

Another ski resort that makes it into the list is the Heavenly Valley Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. This resort has gondolas that travel up 9,100 feet a perfect height to spend some alone time with your new spouse. Also available at the resort are soaks in natural hot springs, skiing (of course!) and romantic sleigh rides. This resort offers such amenities as a picnic up at 9,000 feet and a hot air balloon ride that you will never forget as you look over the snow capped peaks. The gaming tables of Lake Tahoe are close at hand if you want to try your luck at gambling. If you really enjoy trying lady luck, most of the casinos have hotels offering honeymoon packages. If you prefer a more secluded honeymoon experience, there are plenty of condos and homes for rent on a short-term basis in the area.

Most newlyweds want their honeymoon to be a knockout. If you fall in this category, there is no better destination than Switzerland. Well, if you can afford it. Prices are expensive, but a week in Interlaken is the stuff of movies. Located between the lakes of Breinz and Thun, this is a small city that feels like a Swiss village. You can stay in private Swiss chalets, eat fondue and take romantic walks under the snow capped mountains that tower over the area.

If you are considering an off-season wedding, you need to give some thought about your honeymoon. Now you have.
